Rosebud West Community Hub Limited
T/A Seawinds Community Hub

Who we are
Opened in 2012, Seawinds Community Hub was established to meet the needs of a community experiencing entrenched, long term socio-economic disadvantage and inter-generational unemployment. Named for the Seawinds Ward, the Mornington Peninsula Shire owns the building and land;
Rosebud West Community Hub Limited is an independent legal entity, a registered charity, and not for profit company limited by guarantee. Capable volunteer directors contribute their expertise in law, finance and risk management, education, IT, and community engagement to govern the organisation. A Strategic Action Plan 2017-2020 sets out clear and transparent goals for the future; with more funding much more could be achieved.

What we do
We work to transform the community by helping individuals build their own skills, knowledge and capability and thereby, build the capacity of the community.
A ‘cradle to grave’ ethos underpins our 7-day operation, connecting people of all ages and backgrounds to 40+ programs and activities. Through these, people make the improvements and confidence they seek for themselves to have a full and productive life, support them to improve their health and wellbeing and gain a real sense of achievement and belonging.

Budget $1.2m
Revenue is derived from State Department of Education & Training (4 yo Kindergarten), State Department of Health and Human Services (Neighbourhood House Program, early childhood services for children at risk), Commonwealth Community grants (facilities improvements and early childhood services through Centrelink), MP Shire (grants, building running costs).

Eight philanthropic trusts and foundations enable us to deliver early intervention programs for local babies and pre-schoolers, youth and other programs and services. Fourteen local businesses partner with us for programs and fundraising efforts for special projects.

Paid: Hub staff: one full time CEO, one part-time Book keeper, one part-time Café Manager. Early Learning Centre staff support 60 families weekly, from 7am to 5.45pm. Seawinds was named Early Childhood Service of the Year 2017 for Victoria/Tasmania, and holds ‘Exceeding National Quality Standards’ rating by DET.

Unpaid: 36 regular volunteers contribute an average 212 hours weekly, delivering a range of programs and supports.
